Stacey suprised me by making reservations for a suite at the Waldorf-Astoria
for the weekend. Saturday
we spent the day shopping and I showed him my old workplace and apartment.
That night he had told me to get ready for a night out on the town.
Stacey had finished getting ready early and I was still fixing my hair
and makeup in the bathroom and bedroom. When I entered the living room
ready to head out for dinner, Stacey had rose petals leading up to the
coffee table where a huge bouquet of red roses, berries and cream from
room service, a spectacular bottle of wine and Harry Conick Jr. playing
on the stereo. He proposed to me right there with a gorgeous diamond
and platinum ring that he picked out himself (He has great taste!)
After I accepted, with tears and much enthusiasm, he said we were going
to spend the rest of the night celebrating. He took me out to the
Four Seasons for a five star dinner, and then to the Blue
Note to hear Max Roach play, then off to to the Rainbow Room for dancing
and champagne. It was an enchanting evening.
